Calculating the amount of mulch you will need depends on your area of coverage and the depth you want. The following are standard coverage rates for a 2 cubic foot bag, a 3 cubic foot bag and a cubic yard. To calculate square feet... Multiply length times width. For example, if an area is 10' long by 8' wide (10'x8'), then the area is 80 square feet.

Using 2 cubic foot bags:
